Secret Agent Man...er...Woman

Do you guys know the song Secret Agent Man by Johnny Rivers? That song really confused me when I first heard it on the radio. Mostly because I thought it was called Secret Asian Man, and I didn’t know why he was A) Giving me a number, or B) Taking away my name.

But later in my life, when I learned the correct lyrics, I found I could not hear anyone be described as an “agent” without immediately thinking “secret agent,” and wondering what his/her code name

You, fabulous reader, need suffer no such confusion. We here at Nancy Coffey Lit have decided to give up our life of secrecy. We’re ready to reveal all the details of our dangerous, mysterious lives at 240 W. 35th St.

We’re still not telling you our code names, though.

Seriously, do you know how excited we are to have a blog? Do you know how excited we are that you are here reading it?

So. Excited. Welcome to our first official post!

As part of renouncing our sly ways, we want to keep you in-the-know in regards to the queries we’ve received. In the top right-ish corner, you’ll see a button for our Query Log, which will be updated every Friday. In addition, the stellar Joanna will be blogging once a week, so you’ll have plenty of chances to ask agent-related questions and get some awesome perspective on what being an agent means, whether you are a writer or a client.

In turn, we hope you’ll tell us which of our secrets you’re dying to know: wondering how

contracts work? What we look for in queries? What kind of manuscripts we dream of representing? What delicious things we’ve eaten that day?

Well, I can at least answer one of those for you now. We’ve eaten brownies and chocolate covered strawberries.

Yep. It’s a tough life.

Looking forward to many happy blog posts!

Sara, the Assistant

Welcome to the blogosphere! You have now ruined that song for me. I will forever hear Secret Asian Man and wonder why he's trying to keep his ethnicity a secret.

So your first question: Given that you're in publishing and therefore don't make any money but work (live?) in New York and have to spend what money you have on being in New York, how do you eat out so often?

(PS My word verification is "reducto." Is Blogger on a Harry Potter theme this week?)
