Discontinuation of the Blog

We at New Leaf Literary & Media are evolving in our internet presence!

We have decided to discontinue our blog posts and instead reach our audience through our Tumblr account.  We love the accessibility of it, the way that we can promote our clients, share agency information, and answer questions, multiple times a day.  The format is excellent for our needs and we're really excited to continue our social media presence on Tumblr.

The Shindig Platform

To anyone who doesn’t know, Shindig is an online platform that allows authors to reach their readers in a unique, virtual capacity.  It’s like going to a book event without leaving your couch!  The author is on a webcam and is therefore able to directly interact with anyone else participating in the event. But here's the best part: you don't need a camera or microphone to attend the event! To participate, all you have to do is sign up for the event you’re interested in.  From there, you can either attend with a webcam or without, and chat both with the author and with other attendees face-to-virtual face or through an instant-messaging system.  The set up has you in a “room,” in a small box that sits against a screen that makes it look like you’re in a huge library, with all of the other attendees.  The author has a bigger box at the top of the screen, and they have the ability to mute the room or hear what everyone’s saying, depending on how they are handling the event.

This is one of the coolest things that we at New Leaf have been a part of recently.  We’ve begun to use it for client events as an alternative to on-the-spot bookstore or library or school visits.

New Leaf Literary & Media is teaming up with the esteemed Midwest independent bookstore, Anderson's Bookshop to promote teen reading by hosting an event with five awesome New Leaf authors: Veronica Roth (Divergent), Dan Krokos (False Memory), Susan Dennard (Something Strange & Deadly), Leigh Bardugo (Shadow and Bone), and Erica O'Rourke (Torn series). Each author will not only be at Anderson's in Naperville this Thursday, August 30 at 7 PM, to answer questions and sign books, but they've all generously contributed to a booklet of exclusive content for their readers!

And here's the best part: you don't have to attend the event for a chance to receive the content!  All you have to do is follow these guidelines and have the books/secret content delivered to you!

So what is this content we keep talking about?

The first 240 readers to purchase two or more books written by these 5 authors, specifically through Anderson's Bookshop, will receive:

1. A First Army or Second Army poster designed by Marissa Mukavetz for Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone.. These posters will be signed by the author and labeled as the official first print run!

2. A 40 page booklet that contains secret content by the authors, including:

- an alternate, never-before seen opening to Insurgent by Veronica Roth

- a scene from Something Strange & Deadly from Daniel Sheridan's point-of-view by Susan Dennard

- two secret Before and After scenes from Erica O'Rourke's Torn series

- the first five pages of the second book in the False Memory series by Dan Krokos
